Fisheries funding (EFF)

The fisheries funding is a funding scheme common to the province of Vienna, Federation and the European Union.  The objective is to support investments made for the improvement of the aquaculture, processing and marketing of freshwater fish (including salmon), freshwater crabs and products derived from them.

Target group

Natural and legal entities as well as associations of individuals in Vienna.  The funding is limited to micro, small and medium-sized businesses (in accordance with recommendation 2003/361/EG of the commission, ABl. L 210) and/or to businesses with less than 750 employees and an annual turnover of less than 200 million Euros.

Fundable projects/costs

Investment in the following areas


* Processing and marketing: Increase of processing capacity, expansion, furnishing and modernisation of processing installations, building of marketing mechanisms and modernisation of existing marketing mechanisms (not valid for retail trade stage)
* Aquaculture:  Building of new aquaculture sites, expansion and modernisation of existing aquaculture sites, environmental protection measures
* Freshwater fishing: Freshwater fishing vessels (equipment and modernisation), expansion, furnishing and modernisation of freshwater fishing mechanisms
* Pilot projects: Testing of management plans and plans for the allocation of the fishing effort, testing of alternative management techniques.
Minimum project size is 5,000 Euros per project or per year, maximum funding amount is 40 percent of the calculable investment costs

Applications may be submitted to the Business Agency or the MA 5 (before start of investment) on an ongoing basis.
