Project development

The project development of the Vienna Business Agency is developing a multiplicity of office real estate together with its subsidiary, ZIT Centre for Innovation and Technology, as well as with private partners. Over the last years the project development of the real estate department has become increasingly important with regards to high-quality and multi-functional special real estate.

Special business infrastructure is increasingly becoming a key question in economic success through the structural change to knowledge and technology-based industry.

Through our co-operation with private partners in the form of public private partnerships we are in a position to better cushion any risks, to realise them efficiently and close to the market and thereby compensate for market failure in certain areas.

The best example of this is the Campus Vienna Biocenter, which was developed by the Vienna Business Agency together with their subsidiary ZIT and private partners. Since then the campus has become the headquarters of several internationally successful biotechnology businesses.

The Vienna Business Agency project development took over the complete development of the tram-works in Vienna for the Canadian transportation company, Bombardier. This resulted in the most modern manufacturing in Europe for light train vehicles. Vienna's position as a centre of competence for tram building could thus be reinforced. 60 percent of all trams world-wide are developed and manufactured in Vienna.
