Viennese representation in Brussels

Since Austria’s entry to the EU in 1995, the Vienna Business Agency has had an office in Brussels and is thus in direct proximity to all of important EU institutions. This proximity enables our colleagues in Brussels to offer Viennese businesses a comprehensive information and consulting service concerning European Union topics.

Working locally enables us to address the newest developments and trends in different thematic areas. This furthermore enables a direct flow of information between Brussels and Vienna concerning business-related events in the fields of research, innovation, energy, environment, KMU, state aid, European funding programmes or calls to tender. And that means a wide range of advantages for Viennese businesses.

The Brussels office is merged into European networks and, owing to the work of many years, has direct contacts to EU institutions and participants.  The Brussels offices of the Vienna Business Agency moreover conduct focused lobbying for projects or concerns of Viennese business and Vienna.  

Use European opportunities

Run by two colleagues, the Brussels office not only organises information meetings or discussion panels but also organises travel for businesspeople. In this unbureaucratic manner, Viennese businesses are offered the opportunity to present themselves in “the capital of Europe” and/or find co-operative partners for joint projects. At the end of March, Viennese businesses had the opportunity of travelling to Brussels to participate in the Sustainable Energy Week and make important contacts in the field of the environmental technology.

In Brussels there are also regular meetings with agencies from other European regions. This facilitates the search for European projects particularly in the context of specific programmes.

The Brussels office also supports the Vienna business location on a bilateral level through local representations, business presentations or information and assistance for Belgian companies during a company foundation in Vienna.
